Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 will be getting a 300 MB patch at launch. The update 1.50 is required to access most of the features promised by Sony which includes remote play, second screen play, video upload and sharing, and Blu-ray player.
The PS4 instant resume feature will not be available at launch but Sony will eventually release the patch for this feature in the near future.
It seems Sony will launch an unfinished product to be able to make the November 15 deadline. On the side note; the Microsoft Xbox One will also need a large day-one patch to be able to play.
